Pure Tetrapeptide from LS Is Ideal for Sensitive Skin

Laboratoires Serobiologiques has introduced Skinasensyl, a pure tetrapeptide with an innovative and targeted mechanism especially designed for people with sensitive skin. By focusing on one specific parameter—the painful sensation experienced by end-users—Skinasensyl reduces nerve oversensitivity to external stimuli by decreasing the amount of the pro-inflammatory neuro-mediator calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) that is produced by the body. This ability to inhibit CGRP release to reduce neuronal stimulation has been demonstrated in vitro to occur via binding to the µ opioid receptor.

The overall soothing effects of Skinasensyl have been confirmed in clinical studies highlighting its capability to increase the tolerance threshold of skin as well as to reduce sensations of pain and discomfort to environmental factors or known irritating agents. Skinasensyl is therefore positioned as a new generation cosmeceutical ingredient with a “pain-killer” effect, which now allows sensitive skin to have its own advanced skin care products. Available in a preservative-free version, it can also be incorporated into men’s care ranges (clinical test on a mixed panel) and is also suitable for anti-stress claim. Presperse Offers SiClone SR-5 a Cyclomethicone Replacement

SiClone SR-5, a new, patent-pending ingredient from Presperse, is indistinguishable from cyclomethicone in formulations, yet is 100% silicone-free. According to Presperse, it is the first replacement product that gives the volatility, slip and cushion that formulators expect only from volatile silicones. Whether SiClone SR-5 is used in sticks, roll-ons or aerosols as a non-silicone base, the final antiperspirant formulation has the same volatility and smooth, dry spreadabiltiy as the currently marketed products, according to Presperse.

SiClone SR-5 provides a number of properties for both wash-out and leave-in hair conditioners, including detangling, manageability, anti-frizz and sheen. In hair sprays it allows for soft hold in a quick-drying, nonalcoholic system. Consumers look for oil-free and silicone-free formulas, and SiClone SR-5 delivers in both cases, with richer, more luxurious body and a soft cushion during application. It’s ideal for lotions, creams, primers, serums and UV protection products.

In addition, to improving spreadability, brightness, glide and moisturizing properties, in color cosmetics, SiClone SR-5 helps set pigments for longer wear, contributes to binding and improves the application properties of loose powders. More info: www.presperse.com

Symrise Geneologies Available for Sun and Body Care

Symrise has published two genealogies covering body care and sun care products. The genealogies provide the global fragrance and cosmetics industry with a detailed overview of existing products, new releases and trends on the market. Like the company’s earlier genealogies for fine fragrances and personal care products, Symrise’s skin care genealogies are also organized on the basis of different fragrance families, such as citrus, floral, oriental and woody. Products listed within these fragrance families are then broken down into subfamilies. Fruity, spicy and floral, for instance, are the subgroups of the woody family of fragrances. In addition, what is known as a specifier—a reference product representing key olfactory characteristics—is also used to describe the different body care and sun care products in the skin care genealogies.

This three-part classification system makes it possible to present products in precise terms and to understand which market segments have recorded an increase in product launches and which fragrance segments have so far only been partially covered, according to Symrise. More info: www.symrise.com
